I'm a Senior DevOps Engineer at Shipt. For the last five years, my job has mostly been to make life easier for other engineers. I help run the internal platform used by about 90 teams to ship and operate roughly 950 services, along with the messy bits underneath it like container registries, artifact governance, and CI/CD paths. When things are healthy, nobody notices. When they are not, everyone notices fast. That has made me pretty obsessive about reliability and about not becoming the bottleneck. I've led a few company-wide migrations that sounded simple in planning docs and took months in real life.
